Germany Master applications
VPD for Germany: a practical guide for Pakistani applicants
Understand what a VPD is, when a university may request one, and why programme-specific instructions must be checked before applying.
What a VPD does
A Vorprüfungsdokumentation, usually called a VPD, is an evaluation issued through uni-assist for applications where the receiving university asks for it. It is not a universal requirement for every German university or every programme.
Start with the programme instructions
The university and programme page decide whether you apply through uni-assist, request a VPD and then use a direct portal, or follow another process. Check the current intake and degree-specific page before paying or uploading documents.
Prepare consistent documents
Names, dates, degree details and grading information should agree across the portal and uploaded records. Translation, certification and document-format rules can differ by country and institution, so follow the country notes shown by uni-assist and the university.
Allow processing time
A VPD is an earlier step, not the university application itself. Plan backwards from the university deadline and do not assume that requesting a VPD on the final day completes the direct university application.
