You got in. Here is everything that comes next.
The admission letter is the halfway point, not the finish line. This guide covers the visa, money, insurance, and housing steps for Pakistani students heading to Germany or France. Studyssey students get this guidance step by step on WhatsApp, with an advisor to answer questions.
Admitted in Germany
Four things to start in your first week, all in parallel
Submit your student-visa application online
Start the National Visa (type D) process through the Federal Foreign Office Consular Services Portal. Upload the documents requested by its questionnaire. After screening, the responsible German mission will either request corrections or notify you about the in-person appointment.
Open your blocked account
A blocked account is one accepted way to prove funding. The official 2026 study-visa amount is €11,904 for one year (€992 per month); scholarships and a declaration of commitment may also qualify. Confirm the amount and accepted method in the portal before transferring funds.
Arrange health insurance
For the visa you need incoming health insurance covering your arrival period. After enrolment you switch to statutory student insurance (around €130 per month with providers like TK or AOK). Many blocked account providers bundle incoming insurance in one package.
Apply for accommodation early
Apply for Studentenwerk (student services) housing on the day you receive admission, and look at shared flats (WG) in parallel. In popular cities, dorm waitlists for the winter intake fill within weeks.
Admitted in France
Your Études en France procedure is done. Now the visa and housing steps
Apply for the VLS TS student visa
Complete the visa application on France-Visas and book your appointment with VFS Global. Because you already completed the Études en France procedure, you get a 50% reduction on the visa fee.
Prepare proof of funds
You must show at least €615 per month of your stay. Recent bank statements in your name or a sponsor letter with the sponsor’s statements are accepted.
Apply for accommodation
CROUS student residences are the most affordable option and fill quickly. Apply as soon as you confirm your program, and keep private platforms as a backup.
Validate your visa after arrival
Your VLS TS must be validated online within 3 months of arriving in France, on the ANEF portal. Missing this makes your stay irregular, so do it in your first weeks.
Amounts like the blocked account requirement and proof of funds change every year. Always confirm the current figures on the official German mission and Campus France pages before applying. Studyssey links to blocked-account and housing providers for convenience and is not affiliated with them.
